Academic dreams may not come true, our academic goals do! Set learning goals every night before you go to bed by writing them down in a list and putting them where you can see them in the morning.
These goals are analogous to an academic to-do list, but it's important to make your list as specific and detailed as possible. For example, instead of writing down Finish the biology homework due Thursday, try breaking it down by writing step-by-step instructions on your list. As an example you could write:

Review the notes taken during class for the lecture regarding this homework.
Read the homework assignment, do exercises 1-5
Take a short break.
