Once you feel you've mastered this year's topics, the best way to see if you've built the necessary foundation for next year's courses is to actively try to tackle them! Use this summer to get a head start on the parts and topics you'd be responsible for next year.

While I would definitely recommend going as far as possible, the first few units of the curriculum are usually the best test of your readiness, as they usually rely heavily on last year's knowledge. If you can successfully expand your knowledge base into next year's curriculum, it's a good sign that you're on the right track.

On the other hand, if you find that you don't understand or understand any of the new concepts (especially in the first part), it could indicate some fundamental weaknesses from the previous year that you can work on. Your next year's academic goals can be found not only in the school board curriculum but also in resources such as "curriculum books" which are also widely sold and have many practice problems and questions to try!

However, keep in mind that teachers usually have the final say on what your learning process looks like, which brings us to our next point.
